Seetharam - Breakfast

For an Indian breakfast we went to Seetharam restaurant located in Brick fields, Jalan Tun Sambanthan. The restaurant can get both buffet and order the food you want. The restaurant very open with no walls on the facade.

For breakfast most indians eat different kinds of bread with curry. So in seetharam we tried two different kind of breads and short eats. For the first type we ate thosal.

Thosai is made from rice flour and ghee. One side is baked on a pan and the folded and served with curry. It taste sweet and is crunchy a bit.  The thosal's were given to us with dhal curry and chilli paste.

The next type of bread we ate was called poori. This is made from wheat floor and ghee and two sides are baked unlike th thosai. This was served with potato curry and dhal curry.

Indian also eat various types of shorteats for breakfast, we tried two types in this restaurant. The first one is called ulundu vadai. Massor dhal, onions, peppers, and fish. After mixing everything it is then fried till golden brown, which makes it crispy outside and soft in the inside.

The next one we tried was called idli. It also uses the same rice flour as the thosai, urad dal, methi and coconut oil for greasing. Ater mixing everything, it is molded and steamed for 10 mins before serving. Idli is also served with dhal curry, chilli paste and also a coconut chutny which is called chadni.

Indian breakfast is not complete without tea. We tried Madras Tea with our food. It is made from tea and fresh cow milk. It is brough in an Upside down metal cup, we needed to pour it out to the deep saucepan, and then pour it back into the cup  to drink.
