Colourful Indians
Spread of Hinduism in South East Asia (SEA)
How it spreads?
Hinduism is one of the world's oldest religion.
It is the third largest religion with over 1 billion followers. It is a polytheistic religion which believes in the cycle of reincarnation. Hinduism has close to 50 religious scriptures. Hindusim is a way of life not a organized religion, that's why pligrims don't travel around to spread. Hinduism spread around the world by the inflow of Asians during the British Colonial period. The Indian arrived as British labourers.
Southeast Asia was frequented by traders from eastern India, particularly Kalinga, as well as from the kingdoms of South India. Today, vibrant Tamil Hindu communities remain in Malaysia, Singapore, Thailand and the Philippines mainly due to presence of Indians, such as Tamil people migrated from Indian sub-continent to Southeast Asia in past centuries.
